About SWS

SouthWestSensor Ltd. (‘SWS’) is an exciting Southampton based high-tech company backed by a global water technology platform provider (Skion Water). SWS is commercialising advanced chemical sensor products for pollutant monitoring applications in the water industry, including for environmental applications.

We are looking for a Sensor Manufacturing Technician to join us, ideally with some experience in technical or engineering tasks in industry. We will provide you with a dynamic fast-growth environment with rapid career progression if successful.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Sensor Manufacturing Technician is expected to:

§  Manufacture sensors according to required specifications, timings and volumes

§  Day-to-day manufacturing duties include:

o  Building of sub-assemblies

o  Assembly of sensor devices

o  Sensor calibrations

o  Sensor quality checks for release

o  Packaging and preparation for shipment

o  Update paperwork

§  Ongoing liaison with mechanical, electronics/software and chemistry teams to ensure timely provision of inlet filters, connectivty modules/latest firmware and reagent pouches/standards

§  Provide regular updates to Production Manager

§  Assist mechanical team in repairing returned sensor devices

§  Assist mechanical team in performing recommended return-to-factory sensor conditioning after 2 years

§  Fabrication of test and calibration rigs to ensure developed products meet requirement specifications

Requirements

The Sensor Manufacturing Technician will be hands-on, adept at following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and with sufficient attention to detail to assemble sensor products at the required quality and quantity.

Must haves:

§  Equivalent experience and/or qualification in engineering or technical discipline. Willing to consider applications from a variety of educational backgrounds: degree, apprentice, BTEC, HNC/HND

§  Strong practical skills with experience in technical and engineering tasks, for example: assembly of mechanical systems, assembly or test of sensors, calibration, workshop tasks and related manufacturing

§  Highly organized with outstanding attention to detail

§  Self-motivated and able to work without daily supervision

§  Ability to quickly learn and apply new skills & processes

§  Team player willing to work in a multi-disciplinary team

Desirable:

§  Industry experience

§  Familiarity working under quality management systems (e.g. ISO 9000/14001)

§  Experience working with sensors, high-tech products or in the water space

Remuneration:

The Company will pay a highly competitive salary in line with the candidate’s relevant experience. A company pension is also in place. 

Holidays:

The standard full-time holiday allowance is 23 days annual leave plus public holidays.

Hours of work:

The role is expected to be full-time, but we are flexible accommodating suitably talented individuals and would also entertain part-time employment. The company will consider flexible working patterns within the operational requirements of the role.
